This year, Egg Restaurant, Riverhead Books, and Food Book Fair have come together to present two “Tables of Contents” events to bring some of the most exciting literature to life through food.

Egg was founded in 2005 on a set of principles that still animates our work: that it’s not enough for restaurants to serve delicious food in a welcoming environment. We believe that restaurants must also be a force for social good.

Tables of Contents brings writers and cooks, readers and eaters together, exploring the intersections of food and literature and what drives us to create and consume them both.

Founded in 1994, Riverhead Books is now well established as a publisher of bestselling literary fiction and quality nonfiction. Throughout its history, Riverhead has been dedicated to publishing extraordinary groundbreaking, unique writers. Riverhead’s books and authors have won or been finalists for Pulitzer Prizes, National Book Awards, National Book Critic Circle Awards, MacArthur Genius Awards, Hurston Wright Legacy Awards, Dayton Literary Peace Prizes, and numerous other distinctions.

Riverhead TABLE

Riverhead Table is an author cooking series that partners with local restaurants and food organizations to bring Riverhead’s award-winning authors into the kitchen, where they design, prepare and serve meals inspired by their latest books. Past Riverhead Tables have included Mohsin Hamid, Elizabeth Gilbert, Marlon James, Lesley Nneka Arimah, Emma Straub and more. Launched in 2015 from the apartment kitchen of a Riverhead staff member, the series has since been featured in The San Francisco Chronicle, Shelf Awareness, among others.

Food Book Fair launched in 2012 as the first event of its kind: part festival, part conference, set at the intersection of food culture and food systems.
